Design
Like other SUF TUF series laptops, the Best Affordable Gaming Laptop Asus TUF A15 is a larger, chunkier system that is not close to Asus’s ROG Zephyrus range – but again, it’s part of the attraction. With the TUF line, we are used to devices that build quality and durability at the forefront when it comes to design.
It’s certainly a design that confirms the state of the gaming machine, but it’s not completely overboard either – and you actually owe it some of the right sizes for lagging around. The chassis comes in 2 colors: fortress grey (the color on our review unit) and balefire Black.
Keyboard & Touchpad
When you open the lid, there are even more design options to appeal to gamers. The choice for keys is RGB light, and the all-important WASD keys are illuminated with a translucent color, which is no doubt a gaming laptop.
The military-grade design is certainly attractive, and quite functional. It provides the laptop with extra protection from daily knocks and bumps and also has a honeycomb design at the base of the machine, which prevents the laptop from slipping along with the cells in the structure’s housing cooling vent.
Display & Ports
Having a chunky design means that you have enough space to accommodate a lot of ports and in this case an Ethernet port, HDMI, two standard USB ports, and a USB-C port on the left side as well as a power plug. Is the power supply, while the right-hand side has another standard USB.
This is a strong selection and should be enough for all your peripherals without the need for an adapter. For gaming laptops, the presence of an adapter is very welcome, as it provides more reliable network speeds.

Performance

For CPUs, the FA506IH-AS53 features the new AMD Ryzen 5 4600H. It is not the flagship mobile processor from AMD (the title is currently near the Ryzen 9 4900HS), but again, the TUF A15 is not a flagship laptop to target. We all know for sure; It aims to be a budget machine that offers a mix of performance and price, and that’s why we like the choice of the 4600H.
With 6 cores and 12 threads and a maximum boost clock of 4.0GHz, this chip delivers easily to both productivity tasks and gaming. To this, add 8GB and 512GB SSDs and you have an enthusiast machine that can handle most (if not all) of your computing needs. It may be media editing in 1080p or playing the latest game.
It is paired with the Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU. Again, this is not a flagship GPU (you have the RTX 20 series), but it is a capable 1080p artist, which is an excellent choice for such gaming laptops. It is one of Nvidia’s more affordable GPUs, but it still offers great performance, and with 4GB of DDR6 memory, it makes for a smart choice for a laptop that needs to be kept low in cost.
Gaming & Graphics
With Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1650 GPU (4GB) in tow, the TUF FA506IH-AS53 stands out as a capable gaming laptop that will allow you to play fashionable titles at 1080p and medium settings. The GTX 1650 graphics card is the low-end version of Nvidia’s 2019-released gaming GPU, which hits the market with a Turing-based RTX 20-series graphics card. Unlike its higher-end siblings (RTX 2070 & RTX 2080), the GTX 1650 does not include any type of wrenching or tensor core.
Still, it offers better performance than last year’s GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. Played at medium settings and 1080p resolution, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey yields 55 to 62 frames per second, but the same game runs at 53 to 68 fps at medium settings. Of course, you suffer from pixels as you move to a higher setting, topping at 48 fps.
In the same settings, a shade of 1080p raider during a mixture of medium and high settings, the TUF A15 renders the game at 46 FPS. This is slightly better for an entry-level gaming laptop as it goes above the 37-fps average.
Battery Life
