Design
Premium Wireless Gaming Headset Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 looks like a cross between Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 and Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero. You get a black-and-silver plastic chassis with a steel headband and a rather metameric oval earcup. If you apply some force, the ear patches fall flat, and they are removable.
Most controls are tilted to the left: volume controls, chat mixes – both are inconvenient to the right next to each other, and yes, you’ll be mixing them constantly – mode selection, power, Bluetooth, pairing (on the Xbox version), and one Folding mike. This is also where you will find the USB-C charging port. There is nothing on the right auricle, which seems a bit useless.
The turtle is not much more volatile to wear out the headset than some more colorful or elaborate headsets originating in the middle, although it is also a bit plainer. However, what it sounds like is a different story.
Comfort
Turtle Beach headsets are usually extremely comfortable, which is why it is surprisingly surprising that the Stealth 700 Gen 2 is not. The earcups press very tightly, and because the headbands are not knotted, it is very difficult to get a good fit. While the headset advertises its spec-friendly prospect design, there is no easy way to adjust the channel to earcups. The ear cups are removable, and you can make room for the glasses by adjusting a notched band. However, removing earrings is not easy (I figured it couldn’t be done before), and it doesn’t do much to address the overall experience of the headset.
The headset is not very heavy, at least, and the earcups are both breathable and comfortable. But there is no bus around the tightness, especially since it presses uncomfortably on all sides of the moment when you insert it. While the Premium Wireless Gaming Headset Stealth 700 Gen 2 was not painful to wear, it was always a relief to remove it, especially after extended gaming sessions.
Performance
In terms of sound quality, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 ranks between “good” and “excellent”. I tested the device with Halo 3: Odust, Blasphemous, Hellblad: Senua Sacrifice, and Donut Counties, and the headset provided rich, clear audio across the board. Halo 3 had a strenuous and immediate experience of taking down Covenant soldiers, while in Donut County, the lamps and blips all pointed and felt accurate.
The headset has a nice balance for music and video, as I learned when I hooked it up to my PC. (For the Xbox version you will need an Xbox wireless adapter to do this; the PS4 version is already compatible with PCs). I was significantly happy with the bass in tracks from bands like flogging molly and previous Crow medicine. Gaming headsets are generally very light on the bass, and I’m glad to hear that it balances the treble, bass, and vocals very well in a default tree scape.
Features

Bluetooth functionality takes center stage here, as it is highly unusual in wireless gaming headsets, especially in the $ 150 price range. For the most part, Bluetooth worked wonderfully, whether I was playing mobile games like Monument Valley 2 or taking long-term business calls. It helps that the mic of the Stealth 700 Gen 2 is surprisingly clear and strong.
On the opposite hand, managing all the varied buttons and choices is a pain. Turtle Beach Audio Hub software can upgrade the firmware for both PS4 and Xbox versions of the headset, while you won’t need to use the Android or iOS app to tweak other settings. There, you can reprogram the button (this is particularly useful for remodeling the chat mixer as a Bluetooth volume dial) and try different sound EQ levels.
An even bigger issue is that the volume from one platform to another is highly inconsistent. Tales of Crestoria on Android nearly cracked my ears when I first connected the headset while I could barely hear a Rolling Stones song on Windows. Spotify does not have the same volume as YouTube. The volume dial is additionally extraordinarily sensitive, and you’re additional seemingly to land on “too loud” or “too soft” than a comfortable volume. The headset’s notification tones and voice are also a loud pain by default.

Comfort is usually the most important thing in a gaming headset, and I’m not sure I want to use the Stealth 700 Gen 2 every day as a result. But what you get for your money – wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, great sound, and a mappable button – there’s no denying that the headset is a good value.
Given the choice, I’m still going with the more comfortable, PC-centric Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero, at least if you’re a PS4 player. (That headset works fine on PC, PS4, and docked switches.) But for a high-end wireless headset for Xbox gamers in the market – especially one that will work with the upcoming Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S – The Stealth 700 Gen 2 is well worth watching.
